Alice Gregory, Ph.D.
Professor
Goldsmiths, University of London
Department of Psychology

London, United Kingdom

Alice Gregory is a Professor of Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her work focuses on understanding the etiology of concurrent and longitudinal associations between sleep disturbances and a range of other difficulties. She first developed an interest in sleep research as an undergraduate student at Oxford University. After graduating with a first class degree, she obtained a scholarship to study in Japan for a year, using her time to collect cross-cultural data for her first publication in the field of sleep research. Upon her return to the UK she commenced her doctoral degree at the Institute of Psychiatry using epidemiological and twin samples to learn more about sleep disturbances, anxiety and depression. Professor Gregory was then funded by the Economic and Social Research Centre to complete postdoctoral work to take a cognitive-genetic approach to understanding the etiology of various childhood problems. Since joining the Department of Psychology at Goldsmiths, University of London, Professor Gregory’s work has been supported by numerous sources including the British Academy, the Economic and Social Research Council and the Leverhulme Trust. She has published over 100 papers and chapters, mainly focusing on sleep and associated traits.
