What is a bedtime routine chart?

A bedtime routine chart is a chart that lists a set of activities that your child can do in a specific order before bedtime. For example, he might have dinner, watch television, brush his teeth, take a bath, put his pajamas on, and then do a quiet activity in his room on his own or with a parent, depending on his age. Use pictures on the chart instead of or along with words since your little one may be too young to read. You and your little one can refer to the chart as you go through the steps of the routine. Eventually, with some practice and consistency, he may not need to refer to the chart at each step. Keeping activities of the routine consistent helps your little one prepare for bed and become sleepy at the right time each night.
