Should I wake my baby from his nap if he sleeps for too long?
I know it sounds crazy, but yes, it is absolutely ok for you to wake your baby from a nap if he has slept too long. Maintaining a sleep schedule is important for babies (and you!), and sleep schedules for babies include both nighttime and naptime. Naptimes can vary depending on the baby, so set the schedule based on what works best for you and your baby. It is also generally best for naps to end about 3-4 hours before bedtime. This means that if their bedtime is around 7:30 p.m., then they shouldn’t sleep much later than 4:00 p.m.. Very young babies can often sleep until 5:00 p.m. and not have difficulty falling asleep by 7:30 p.m.. So, if his nap has gone on for too long, you can definitely wake him up to ensure he is ready for his next nap or for bedtime.
