My little one kicks his legs a lot when he is sleeping, and sometimes it wakes him up. What should I do?
First of all, young children are often restless sleepers. There are some situations, though, in which it is something more. There is a sleep disorder called Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (PLMD), which involves leg movements during sleep and can wake a child. A parent may say that his or her child kicks his legs as if there is a “horse in the bed.” Certainly check with your little one’s health care provider if you are concerned about your child’s leg kicking during sleep.
