My baby was diagnosed with Pierre Robin sequence. How will this affect his sleep?

Pierre Robin sequence (PRS) affects the formation of the jaw, palate, and upper airway, and babies with PRS are at very high risk of having obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Because of this, your child’s health care provider may recommend that he have a sleep study to evaluate for breathing problems during sleep. Some symptoms of OSA in babies include snoring-type sounds, stridor (a high-pitched choking sound), pauses in breathing, sweating during sleep, more frequent awakenings from sleep, and sometimes color changes of the skin. If you are concerned that your baby has any of these symptoms, contact your child’s health care provider for evaluation.
