My baby cries when he lies flat. What should I do?

When your little one cries and/or sometimes arches his back when he lies flat to sleep, it may be a sign that he has reflux. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), or reflux, is when stomach acid comes up into the baby’s throat. This condition can cause pain and burning and should be discussed with your pediatrician. There are medications that can help under the recommendations of your health care provider.

Other things that you can try if your baby has reflux is raising one end of the crib so your baby is sleeping in a more upright position.
