How can I help my baby sleep well?
There are three things that you can do to help your baby sleep well at night. First, have an early bedtime. Babies who go to bed before 9:00 p.m. sleep better at night. Second, do a consistent bedtime routine. Three to four activities that are the same each night will help set the stage for your little one to fall asleep easily. Third, make sure your little one can fall asleep independently. Even though this can be the tough part, this will help them to sleep for longer stretches overnight. We know that all babies wake naturally during the night, and they typically need what they had at bedtime when they fell asleep initially in order to return to sleep after those natural night wakings. So, if your little one can self-soothe at bedtime, he will likely be able to self-soothe during the night.About Dr. Jodi Mindell
