Baby Sleep Day is every March 1st, preceding World Sleep Day. Baby Sleep Day brings attention to the importance of a good night’s sleep for every young child and their family. The Pediatric Sleep Council, a team of international pediatric sleep experts, organizes Baby Sleep Day.
In celebrating Baby Sleep Day, the PSC seeks to support families who are struggling to develop healthy sleep habits or just want to learn more about baby sleep. Learn more about sleep in young children on Baby Sleep Day to help everyone get a good night’s sleep!
On March 1, 2023, members of the Pediatric Sleep Council announced several new babysleep.com website posts on our Facebook page. See below for more information on the origin of Baby Sleep Day.
The Origin of Baby Sleep Day
In December 2016, after successfully launching the Pediatric Sleep Council, and providing an excellent pediatric sleep resource for parents, we officially met to discuss Sleep Awareness Week. The venue was Hymie’s Deli, right around the pickle bar. A napkin in hand, ideas flowed. As they noshed upon the world’s finest pickles – Jodi Mindell, Bula and Russel Walters had an idea.
“What if there was one day that we all focused on the importance of a baby’s sleep?”
When babies sleep well, parents get better rest. Rested parents are in a good mood, and they spread happiness. If we were all overcome by happiness from better sleep, we may finally be close to achieving world peace.
Upon a Hymie’s paper placemat, Jodi, Bula and Russ declared:
March 1st is Baby Sleep Day
That year, we celebrated Baby Sleep Day in 30 Countries where Pediatric Sleep Experts provided advice to parents around the world for 24 hours.
Each year, Baby Sleep Day grows bigger.
